THINGS TO TRY THIS APRIL
Why hello April!
Every year, April makes us swoon. It’s something about the crisp Autumn days, those final ocean dips before cooler ones roll on in, and that grounded feeling of riding and intentionally creating the first few months of a new year.
To add some extra joy to your April, we share our five suggestions. We have also created you a Weekly Intentional Planner. Each day, take the time to consider how you want to feel as you go about your day and continue to return to this desired feeling. As Danielle LaPorte says: “You’re not chasing the goal itself, you’re actually chasing a feeling.”
Connect with your community
Take the time to connect with likeminded folk, have meaningful conversations, learn something new and create more community in your life. As often in this case by the time we reach April, life has likely gotten pretty busy. Don’t be too busy to connect with what matters most. Carve out time in your schedule to attend an event or workshop, or treat yourself and besties to a weekend yoga and meditation retreat. Declutter and simplify
It doesn’t have to be so complicated. In fact, it can be simple, even when the to-do list is as long as the Everest trail!
First things first though, create space. Lots of it, both physical and mental. Next time you’re in your wardrobe, reassess what you actually need. If you haven’t worn those jeans for three years, donate them to someone who needs them. Those books you’ve read, give them to a friend. Those ornaments and decorations that were once your style (‘once’ being the operative word), well it’s time for them to find a new home too.
As for your mind, carve out space – intentional space – for stillness and silence, and let the world happen around you. Your only ‘to do’ is to be.
Give back to Mama Nature
Next time your out basking in Mama Nature’s glory, maybe for a beach stroll, bush walk or swim, when you spot a piece of rubbish, don’t walk by. Have a bag handy so you can collect what you find and show our beautiful world that you love her right back.
Count your blessings
When is the last time you picked up your journal, not to share your frustrations and work through the ‘stuckness’, but to acknowledge all that you are grateful for in your life. So often, we turn to our diaries when life is tricky, but this April, create five minutes each day to list what you are grateful for and notice how the spirit of gratitude fills your days.
Regroup, reassess and take intentional direction
Now that we’re a quarter of the way into the year, take a moment to stop, reflect and reconnect with your intentions for this year. Maybe you made a vision board in January or scribed your wishes and dreams in that special book of yours. Revisit your dreams and see what feels relevant four months in, and what no longer does. Maybe you feel called to refine your dreams and create a new vision board.
With a cup of herbal tea in hand and your fave tunes on in the background, make this exercise fun. We’re constantly growing, stretching and evolving, so let your dreams too.
