AN INTERVIEW WITH STEPHANIE RICE
What a way to start the week! Today at The Daily Guru we are bursting with excitement to have the inspirational Stephanie Rice in our hot seat!
Living by the motto of ‘Be the Best You Can Be’, three time Olympic Gold Medallist and world record-breaking swimmer, Stephanie Rice has become renowned as one of Australia’s golden girls. A highly driven youngster who always set tall goals, Stephanie knew she wanted to be an Olympic swimmer from the young age of four. To this day, the recently retired athlete hasn’t stopped dreaming big and working hard to make her dreams a reality.
We were fascinated to learn what Stephanie’s greatest lessons have been, who has been her biggest inspiration and what she cannot live without!
Stephanie, share with us some insights into the best part of your job…
Being able to follow my passion and work with so many inspiring people. I love that every day is different and I am grateful to have the freedom of being an entrepreneur
Why did you chose this field of work?
I love being able to share my knowledge and experiences with others to help guide and inspirer them to achieve their goals and dreams like I did. I especially love working with kids!!
What has the greatest challenge in your career been?
Overcoming 3 shoulder surgeries whilst trying to prepare for the London Olympics and not being able to be as prepared as I wanted to – both mentally and physically.
What is the funniest misconceptions about your industry?
Well I am involved with numerous industries but personally i don’t really buy into the social scene and don’t try and be popular…its important for me to be authentic and purposeful in everything I do and I work very hard to be the best that I can be!
Who has been the most influential person in your career?
My Coach Michael Bohl is the most inspiring and influential person I have in my life and I am so fortunate to have a very close relationship with him still even though i am no longer swimming.
If you could give one piece of advice to your 18 year old self, what would it be?
Trust your gut instinct, relax and enjoy every moment because it all goes too fast and often we don’t take enough time to enjoy the successes.

Winning 3 Gold Medals at the Beijing Olympics in World Record Time
What is the greatest personal challenge you have overcome?
Retiring from competitive swimming has been a huge mental challenge. Going from being the very best at something to not really knowing what is next was a very hard transition.
I am so thankful to have a very supporting networks of friends and family around me.

How do you spend your time when relaxing?
Meditating or taking some deep breaths

Not learning from my mistakes

Everything happens for a reason!
