Everyone has it.

Some use it more often than others and some don’t even realise they are using it when they are. Some find it harder to tap into and others let it guide every decision in their life.

But let it be known, intuition is within all of us.

Intuition is often a feeling inside that is sometimes dismissed as coincidence, pure chance or a fleeting thought in our imaginations.

In reality, when truly present and tapped into our self, our intuition again and again leads us to exactly where we need to be.

Growing your intuitive muscle is really important — it is a way to understand and get to know yourself on a deeper level. It can help you live from your truth, your core desires, values, ethics, authenticity and consciousness at all times.

Intuition is not just that ‘gut feeling’ — it can come in many forms: flashes of insight, imagery visions, dreams, that déjà vu feeling, that shiver down the spine, a glimpse of the future, inner wisdom (I like to call her my inner Goddess) and strong voices or thoughts of knowing something already before it even happens.

Honing and tuning into your intuition is a channel to your subconscious mind. The knowledge and foresight that is held within you comes through those intense feelings of understanding a desire, an instant decision made or feeling something needs to be done or said without knowing why.

You will know you are using your intuition when it just ‘feels right’. There is this strong sense that hurries us from within. The feelings that arise day to day and give you that gut knowing. You may not entirely understand what is happening or why it is happening in the moment, but there is always a reason and direction your intuitive self is deciding and taking.

Today I am going to share with you five ways to grow your intuitive muscle so you too can start to tap into that sometimes-elusive intuition.


Meditation has an amazing way of stilling the mind, body and soul. It allows you to tap into your intuition through calming the mind, placing the attention on your breathing and bringing your awareness inward, which helps develop a sense of living inside of yourself instead of living outside of yourself. Through this stillness and calming of the mind, you are allowing yourself to feel your gut reactions and make decisions instinctually, instead of mind-thought driven, which can sometimes end up being too over thought.

Gaining this connection with your soul and your intuitive muscles through meditating taps you into your heart, the desires and wants within, your honest reactions and your creative inspiration to live exactly the way you want to live.


Listen with nourishment and heart

Fear holds us back from doing grand things. It is our biggest enemy and yet so often, we treat it as a protective shield by listening to the voice that says, “no you could never do that” or “be careful — you are going to get hurt”. We fear what the voice says because so often we believe that the fear talk is the truth.

Nurture yourself with kind words — “I am beautiful, I am worthy, I am deserving” — and always choose love over fear. With deep courage and bravery, seek out your true being. The guidance of your inner voice can lead to great intuitive awakenings if you are listening to your words with empathy, warmth, heart and appreciation. Nourish your intuition, absorb yours thoughts with compassion and realise the true power of the mind and your thoughts is not fear — it stems from love. Always.


Ask for guidance

Before you start each day, tune into your self, ask for guidance from within (your gut, your inner Goddess, the angel on your shoulder — whoever it might be to you) and hone in on that inner wisdom.

Ask her every day what she wants, what she needs to know, how she wants to feel, where she wants to go and what is going to make her feel utterly, indulgently happy and loved up each day.

Asking for guidance from within is not a sign of weakness. It is a sign you are willing to channel up that inner intelligence and high vibin’ energy and that you are trusting in yourself to know what is best for you and your daily life decisions.


Know your truth and trust it

The more authentic and true to yourself you are, the more you will naturally use your intuition. Check in with your values and beliefs when making day-to-day decisions — whether it’s what exercise to do, what you want to eat, where you want to go, who you want to spend time with and ask yourself:

“Are they my own?”

“Does this ring true with how I feel?”

“Is this choice coming from a place of love or fear?”

Choose to really get to know your core desires and ideals and to look to yourself for validation — not someone else. Truly accepting who you are now in the moment is building trust with yourself and a knowing that things will work out if you listen and know your own feelings.

If you are always looking outside of yourself and to others for decisions based on your life, you are holding back on your own intuitive abilities, your free thoughts are gone and, essentially, you are living for others and not for yourself. Figure out who you are, where you want to go, how you want to live and act from that place with love and truth.


Get out of your head

You are much more than just your mind and mind’s thoughts. You are an incredibly deep and intrinsic being with untold stories and feelings that are innate and powerful. Let yourself be free of worries from days past and choose to live in the now, because really, that is all there is.

Over thinking and over analysing situations and decisions only holds you back from greater, amazing, stunning things. Make it a practice to get out of your head and into your heart, your soul, your gut and let them guide you into a life you love: a life filled with intuitive wisdom, comfort, joy and happiness
