THREE EASY WAYS TO ERADICATE BAD BREATH

There’s nothing quite like a case of smelly breath to leave you feeling slightly self-conscious when you’re in company.

Pungent odour of the oral kind can be caused by many factors — from cavities, tooth decay and gum disease, to more benign but serial offenders like garlic and onion.

So, beyond basic hygiene practices such as brushing and flossing twice daily and regular visits to the dentist, how can you help keep stinky breath at bay?

Like the good tooth fairy we are, we’re sharing three quickie rituals you can add to your daily routine in order to increase your chances at good dental health (and smell).

One

Oil Pulling

We’ve extolled the virtues of daily oil pulling here at The Daily Guru plenty of times before, so let us share the how-to of this ancient Ayurvedic technique with you again.

Each morning, simply swish a tablespoon of oil, such as coconut, around your mouth for about 10 minutes.

Then simply spit it out, into the bin, before rinsing and brushing.

Oil pulling quite literally pulls away the plaque and bacteria (which can contribute to bad breath) to detoxify your mouth and ultimately improve your oral (and overall) health.

Two

Tongue scraping

Another Ayurvedic remedy, this works in a similar way to oil pulling by helping to combat the bacterial build up, food debris and other muck that accumulates on your tongue. It’s a simple as purchasing a good quality tongue scraper, and getting to work scraping from back to front a handful of times each morning or evening.

Three

Eliminate or reduce sugar intake

Along with plenty of other health hazards, sugar can also be at the core of bad breath. This is because yeast, candida and bad bacteria feeds and thrives on the sweet stuff in our diet.

So try cutting back on your sugar intake, and along with other positive changes in your wellbeing, you’ll be sure to see a change in the freshness of your breath!
